This exhibition considers some of the ways that women’s liberation and feminism converged with photography in Australia during the 1970s and ‘80s. It examines the ways that photography assisted women’s liberation and feminism, to the extent that photography became a vital tool for social and political reform. The exhibition also considers developments in photography that were introduced by feminist photographers – material and technical innovations that have had a significant impact on contemporary photographic practice in this country.
