Newcastle Art Gallery holds more than 7,000 works of art in its nationally recognised collection. The collection is an exciting cultural asset which belongs to the people of Newcastle, and indeed all Australians. Works from the collection are on a constant rotating display at the Gallery and in galleries across Australia (even on occasion, the world) when works of art are borrowed by other institutions. In this way, the collection is viewed by hundreds of thousands of visitors per year, and Newcastle continues to grow its reputation as a vibrant cultural city.
