BILL HENSON: The light fades but the gods remain is on view until 16 May 2021. The exhibition showcases two key series by Bill Henson, one of Australia’s most eminent artists. These explore the suburb of Glen Waverley, where the artist grew up. A Monash Gallery of Art (MGA) travelling exhibition​. Curator: Pippa Milne.

RACHEL MILNE: Nest is on view from 15 May 2021 to 1 August 2021. This is the first major solo exhibition at Newcastle Art Gallery by local Newcastle artist Rachel Milne. Focusing on the beauty in the everyday, Milne produces intimate paintings and portraits set in her home and studio, as well as plein air landscapes of iconic places in Newcastle laden with social history. 

WARWAR: The Art of Torres Strait is on view from 29 May 2021 to 22 August 2021. WARWAR is a traditional Eastern Island word in the Meriam Mer language, which translates into English as ‘marked with a pattern’. The exhibition has been developed with renowned artist and curator Brian Robinson. It explores issues of cultural maintenance, Christianity, language and the impact of globalisation on the physical environment of the Torres Strait Islands.
