Newcastle Youth Week: Civic Takeover

Celebrate Youth Week with us at the Civic Takeover! 

Join us for an afternoon of live music from emerging Newy performers, market stalls, a youth art exhibition, an artist-led sculptural workshop and pop-up skate ramps to show off your skills.

Newcastle Art Gallery will be hosting a free drop-in workshop by local emerging artist Aksara Harriram at the Newcastle Visitor Centre across from the Civic Light Rail stop. Throughout the day, Aksara will be creating an evolving imaginary floating suburb with the community. Learn how to make a cityscape and collaborate with each other to create a suspended work of art from everyday materials.

Bring some old cardboard boxes along to upcycle these into works of art!
